Real Trailer Analysis
Some trailers have a screen (I’m calling it rating screen) telling the viewer who the trailer/”preview” has been approved for and the rating of the trailer with most horror trailers being approved for appropriate audiences and rated R (Restricted) and mentioning briefly what will be in the trailer, e.g. “DISTURBING VIOLENT IMAGES AND SOME TERROR”. Under this are the websites www.filmratings.com and www.mppa.org.
SINISTER (2012)
Rating screen
All shots are based around the same setting- rarely uses the same area of house more than once and when it does there is different Mise-En-Scene, e.g. its light in one and dark in the other.
Most shots are dark apart from flashbacks
Quick shot of producer and distributor
Starts with establishing shoot in the dark
40 seconds through it mentions other films that were directed by the same director.
Does not have soundtrack in certain parts to build suspense
Starts slow and quiet and builds up. Pauses at the end for a few seconds for suspense
